Is there any hope other than going back to 1.3.1? But no indication that this works with 1.4.5 and the latest OPM/Kopernicus, EVE, SVE+SVT, Scatterer, etc. Hello, i've modified the SSRSS_Clouds to be 1:1 to real life.So. There is a nasty, garbled edge to the Horizon but that's a known Scaterer bug and present in RSSVE on 1.2.1 as well. I am also using HistoricalProgressionTechTree with it, but be advised that this will not directly work with the latest ModManager and needs a patch - you can find instructions on page 6 of it's forum discussion page. I'm using CareerEvolution for contracts and SMURFF to make the engines/fuel viable in real scale (with several of the recommended mods from both). I have no idea if it's possible, nor how difficult it would be, to get RealismOverhaul/RP- to play nicely on KSP1.3.1 and I haven't tried. TextureReplacerReplaced with a new skybox ? Go for it :)įinal note: this is only RealSolarSystem and visual mods - it doesn't yet deal with making it viable to play. etc.įrom here add whatever you want to, to your game. You probably won't have clouds on the main menu screen (I rarely do) but you should see clouds once you are in the game, the water should be showing the beautiful Scatterer shader etc. I did this and it worked- it's possible it's not needed (I think EVE may now base it's cloud-height on sealevel rather than on distance from the center - in which case this isn't needed, feel free to experiment). So Earth which is set at 6000 becomes 60000. Edit the config file inside.įind every line with "altitude" in it's keyname EXCEPT the ones inside "JupiterBands" blocks and multiply the values by 10. Now go back to where you copied the Clouds folder from SSRSS - and enter it. Others replace things like the biome map with the SSRSS versions - you can try that if you want, but I didn't do this - I merely used SSRSS to get working configs for scatterrer and EVE, I can't vouch for anything more (and it will likely require more rescaling which will get arduous). The other files are all scaling the system and altering the Kopernicus values for SSRSS - they will interfere if you want a full sized RSS (for example the SunScale.cfg significantly reduces the intensity of sunlight - put it into real-scale RSS and Pluto will be pitch-black while Neptune will be barely visible even in the tracking station). Copy the SSRSS folder into your GameData folder as well. Go into the clouds subfolder and choose one (I use the high-res version) and copy this into your GameData folder. (Note that PlanetShine will show an incompatible version warnig at startup - this is harmless and it works fine)

Now manually extract the SSRSS zip file somewhere. I am not using Kronometer myself but you may want to add it. Use the latest KSP1.3.1 versions of all the above.

Install the "optional" mods listed on the page: Just create a new sandbox game and head to the tracking station and go have a look at a few planets to make sure it all looks good.ĭo NOT use CKAN or pyKAN to install it.

(You may want to grab the KSCSwitcher mod from the same repo - but I am not using it myself so cannot vouch for it).Īt this point I suggest a test run to verify that RealSolarSystem is working.

I also can only state that this worked for me on a Linux system with an Nvidia card, 16Gb of RAM and the proprietary drivers if it doesn't work for you I probably cannot help you either. I know some have gotten it working - but for those like me, I have managed to get a rock-solid and very beautiful setup using the visuals from SSRSS (which is updated to 1.3.1) instead and thought I would share how I did it.ĭisclaimer: RSS is not officially updated to KSP 1.3.1 and this is an unsupported way of doing things, don't bother the devs if you have issues. As of now, RSSVE is not yet updated to 1.3.1 and my previous attempts to use it were plagued by bugs and all manner of bizarre issues.
